Microsoft Investigates Office for the Web and Teams File Access Issues
Microsoft is investigating an active Microsoft 365 incident affecting file access in Microsoft Teams and Office for the web. Some users may be unable to open documents in web-based Office apps, including Excel and PowerPoint, while Microsoft works to identify and resolve the issue.
Microsoft is investigating an ongoing service incident affecting file access in Microsoft Teams and Office for the web.
According to Microsoft, some users are currently unable to open files through Office for the web or Microsoft Teams. The company confirmed the issue through its Microsoft 365 Status account and said it is actively reviewing service telemetry to identify the root cause.
Additional details shared in the Microsoft 365 admin center under incident MO1329446 indicate that multiple Office applications may be affected, including Excel and PowerPoint for the web.
Impacted users may receive the following error message when attempting to open documents:
“Office Online services aren’t available right now. We’re working to restore all services as soon as possible.”
Microsoft has not yet confirmed which regions are affected or provided an estimated time for full resolution. However, the company stated that its initial analysis suggests a possible cross-service issue impacting Office for the web experiences.
The issue has been classified as an active Microsoft 365 incident, which typically indicates a service problem with noticeable user impact.
Earlier the same day, Microsoft resolved a separate incident that prevented some customers from setting up multi-factor authentication or accessing the MySignIn service. That issue was attributed to a recent cache configuration change that required failover and resulted in elevated CPU and memory usage as traffic from European Union customers increased.
Microsoft has also addressed several Teams-related service issues in recent months, including problems affecting Teams Free chat and calling, users joining Teams meetings through Microsoft Edge, and some Teams desktop client users being unable to launch the application.
This remains a developing incident, and Microsoft is expected to provide further updates as its investigation continues.
